Verbascum

The tall spires of Verbascum (they grow to around 3 to 6 feet) are usually found at the back of the herbaceous border, although there are a few dwarf varieties. Most Verbascum produce spikes of individual yellow flowers which are about an inch across. The Verbascums grown in the UK are natives of Southern Europe but seem to thrive well in our climate. They are sometimes not long-lived but produce a profusion of seeds from which new plants can be propagated,
