Avro Vulcan

This RAF Avro Vulcan B2A (XM597) bomber, part of the UK's nuclear deterrent force, was due for retirement in 1982 but then became involved in the the Falkland's War. It is one of only two Vulcans to be used in offensive operations. Due to a fractured in-flight refuelling probe, the Vulcan had to divert to Rio de Janeiro. On the nose are painted two guided bombs as mission markings and a Brazilian flag - commemorating her unscheduled stopover.
