Queen Mother's and Yorkill Hospitals

After the Second World War, Glasgow's Victorian hospitals were unable to cope with the demands for services and it was decided to build two specialist hospitals side by side in the Yorkhill area of the city. The Queen Mother's Hospital (on the left) concentrates on maternity and women's illnesses while the Royal Hospital for Sick Children, as its name implies, has built up an enviable reputation for paediatric care.

If you have looked at the illustration of the Campsie Fells and Dumgoyne Hill, you may recognise the skyline in the distance.
