Ibrox Football (Soccer) Stadium

Two Glasgow football (soccer) teams have dominated the Scottish football scene for many years - Glasgow Celtic at their Parkhead ground in the east of the city and Glasgow Rangers at their Ibrox stadium in the west. Both stadia are all seated though in the not to distant past spectators stood on the terracing (or sat in the limited seating available in the strangely named "stand").

Just visible on the left of this picture is Bellahouston Park. This was the site of the great Empire Exhibition in 1938. This was dominated at the time by a 300 ft high steel tower (the Tait Tower), so the city is not unfamiliar with high towers such as this new Glasgow Tower at Pacific Quay.

Bellahouston Park now holds the "House of an Art Lover" which was designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh in 1901 - but was not built until the 1980s!
