North to Campsie Fells and Dumgoyne

North of the Central Lowlands of Scotland is a series of former volcanic hills and the Campsie Fells are the most westerly of these. Dumgoyne Hill is at the western edge of these hills and is about twelve miles from the Glasgow Tower. Needless to say, this photo as taken with a telephoto lense.

Aircraft coming into Glasgow Airport normally fly into the prevailing south-westerly wind so they go to the north of the city before heading in to land. They therefore often bank steeply as they approach the Campsie Fells. The area is also sometimes called the Lennox Hills and the highest point is the Earls Seat (1,500 ft).
