Edinburgh Landmark Bar Bans Dogs

The Greyfriars Bobby boozer has come under fire from the Edinburgh Evening News for banning dogs from the pub.

A spokesman for the bar, which is close to the Greyfriars Bobby statue, said that some people were uncomfortable with having dogs interrupting their peace.

Tracie Knight, whose wee dog Tenzin was refused entrance, was unamused. "I couldn't believe it, they trade off their connection with Greyfriar's Bobby. Tenzin is no trouble. In fact he is less trouble than some drunk people."

The small statue near Greyfriars Church in Edinburgh attracts a steady stream of photographers. Bobby, a Skye terrier stood guard over his master's grave for 14 years until his demise in 1872.
