Barking Mad? The Search for Scotland's 'Ambassadog'.
VisitScotland, formerly the Scottish Tourist Board, has come up with a wheeze to capitalise on canine popularity: enter the 'Ambassadog.'

The prize pooch will be called upon to attend launches and the inevitable photo-opportunity. The owner will have to blast away on social media.

The dog must be resident in Scotland will be required to travel to be patted from John 'O Groats to Gretna, though one suspects that most events will be fairly near some central belt major venues, rather than at a fete in Croftamie or Wick.

A spokesman for VisitScotland said: "We are looking for an outgoing, sociable pooch who is able to capture the spirit of Scotland through their adventures and share them to inspire the world to visit. "Scotland is the perfect destination for going on holiday, whether with a dog or not. "You can explore ancient forests and shaded glens, take a walk along an award-winning beach and discover fascinating history in castles."
