McFarlane Fountain in Alexandra Park

This imposing 40ft tall, blue and gold McFarlane Fountain in Alexandra Park in Glasgow, was dry from 1990 to 2000 but has been restored and is once again providing an attractive feature in this east end park. It was built in Glasgow's Saracen Foundry in 1901 for an international exhibition and incorporates life-size figures representing the arts, literature, science and commerce. It is the first of five fountains being renovated in the city including the Doulton Fountain in Glasgow Green and the Stewart Memorial Fountain in Kelvingrove Park.
