- Piano & Forte - Olli Hauernstein

Olli Hauensteib

Olli Hauensteib The title is misleading. Olli Hauenstein is one of the most hilarious, versatile, original and brilliant clowns I have ever had the joy to experience. He is Swiss and was born in Zurich. He learnt pantomime at the Teatro Studio in Rome and, after a further five years study, he received a diploma in acting, pantomime, circus and acrobatics from the State Theatre and Circus Academy in Budapest. Circus and clowning skills in Italy, France and Eastern Europe is a serious business and part of the ancient dramatic performances of Commedia del arte.

Olly is described as a Swiss clown, mime artist, comedian and musician and he has been compared to Charlie Chaplin and no wonder. With his facial expression, costumes, quick changing characters, walk, zany antics, he is a true born entertainer for all ages. In the audience were children as young as 3, teenagers, parents and grandparents all howling hysterically with laughter. As the title of the show does suggest, it does involve music. The piano becomes a pram, various cars, a mountain but he also plays very well too although humour is not too far away.

Olli Hauensteib Piano & Forte has won many international prizes at various comedy and clown festivals in Riga and in Copenhagen. He has performed right across Europe, Canada and Japan. Now he has come to Scotland. His style of humour thus crosses international borders and languages, entertaining and enthralling audiences across the world.
