RobinThe Scottish Snippets Newsletter in its original format began in April 1997 and continued in an unbroken series for 591 issues. Although no longer produced in that style, there is now this regular update on the new and updated pages on the Rampant Scotland site including "Scottie's Photo Diary From Scotland" and Tam's Tall Tales.

Scottie's Photo Diary - June 2016
As with the Photo Diaries earlier in the year, this one begins with a slide show of some of the pictures in the rest of the page. These include some young cygnets and flowers at Hogganfield loch, the walled garden beside the House for an Art Lover at Bellahouston Park (captured from under an umbrella) and, in my own garden, an Orange Tip butterfly and a Robin as well as some bonny flowers. Graphic here is of Charles Rennie Mackintosh's House for an Art Lover design which was completed in 1996 from original drawings he made for a competition in 1901. Memory Lane - Women's Golf Museum
Alistair Macdonald, a founder member of The British Golf Collectors´ Society, has been involved in the preservation of the Women's Golf Museum in the UK and in Scotland over many years. At one stage he was the museum custodian and on occasions stepped in to ensure that the collection stayed in Scotland. The museum collection is currently held at the British Golf Museum in St Andrews. The Women's Golf Museum kindly agreed to illustrations from their museum being used to illustrate this article. Memory Lane - The Handout - Dispensing Millions
During his time in the Royal Artillery during and after World War II, Alistair Macdonald had the bizarre job of dispensing millions of Italian Lire to British troops after the Italian government devalued the currency and the troops in the army of occupation ere given extra banknotes to make up some of the fall in value. Food Glorious Food
Living in both Scotland (in a lighthouse keeper's house in Shetland) and also in the USA for long periods, Sharma Krauskopf often yearned for the food that she couldn't't have at that particular moment. See: Food Glorious Food
My Hobby
Sharma went to an auction for the first time in Shetland and found it great fun. She then began buying items and selling them on Ebay and did surprisingly well! She not only learned about the various items but found herself dealing with people all over the world. See: My Hobby.
349 Views of Scotland
A review of a new book that has some information on each of the 349 view indicators that are spread throughout Scotland. View indicators are generally metal discs or plates which give the viewer an idea of some of the mountains or other notable features in the distance. Picture here is of Beinn Scrien, Eriskay.
