Scottish Snippets

9 June 2012

Number 628

The Scottish Snippets Newsletter in its original format began in April 1997 and continued in an unbroken series for 591 issues. Although no longer produced in that style, there is now this regular update on the new and updated pages on the Rampant Scotland site including "Scottie's Photo Diary From Scotland".

Blair Drummond Safari Park

When I first visited Blair Drummond I was taking my young children there but in recent years I haven't had a reason to go there again. But a visit by my two-year-old grandson and his parents, who live in the south of England, recently provided the perfect excuse to go round the Safari Park with a digital camera. Of course as a result, I've created an illustrated page for the "Places to Visit" section of the Rampant Scotland Web site. While the Safari Park is aimed a lot at younger visitors, I thoroughly enjoyed touring round and seeing all the animals and birds. See Places to Visit - Blair Drummond Safari Park.

Blair Drummond Safari Park Slide Show

In addition to the illustrated page on the Safari Park I have also taken a larger selection of pictures and created a slide show of many of the animals and other attractions on offer at Blair Drummond. As usual, there is a page of thumbnails leading to larger versions of the pictures and once you are looking at these there are links on each page leading directly to the next graphic. There is a link within the main article on the Safari Park but if you want to go straight to the slide show, the index page is at Blair Drummond Safari Park Slide Show.

Scottie's Pictorial Diary - May 2012

April was a wash-out from the photography point of view as a result of all the heavy rain (the wettest April in Scotland since records began) but May was much better and even managed to break some highest temperature records during the month. Even so, I wasn't travelling far that month but have created a "Photo Diary" for the month with some pictures of the Palace within Stirling Castle, Glasgow and from a local loch and my own garden. See Scottie's Pictorial Diary - May 2012.

Next Newsletter

The visits by my grandson and his parents and by my daughter earlier in the month were great, but understandably and rightly I spent a lot of time with them and have got behind with a lot of other things. So I've pencilled in the next newsletter for three weeks from now - on 30 June.

Yours aye

Scottie
