Doon the Watter - But Not Out
The glory days when many thousands of Glaswegians made an annual pilgrimage "doon the watter" (down the water) to Rothesay for their summer holiday are long gone but Bute remains a delightful part of the west of Scotland with unique views and many interesting walks and sites.

In the past month VisitScotland, which promotes tourism in Scotland, has announced plans to carry out a rebranding of the Isle of Bute Discovery Centre as part of a programme of repair and maintenance to the famous Rothesay seafront building.

VisitScotland's regional director David Adams McGilp said of the plans: "This work will include rebranding of the VisitScotland information centre and associated external signage, repainting of external metal railings, potential installation of solar equipment for the outside lighting system and digital projection for the cinema."
