The Glasgow Show

Queen Victoria and Gladioli
"Queen Victoria" in front of gladioli.

Victoria Park in Glasgow was the venue for the "Glasgow Show" on the last weekend in August in which professional and amateur gardeners put on a flower show in the city park. It had been called the "Glasgow Show" as there were more than flowers on display - there were radio controlled model boats sailing in the pond, chamber music, entertainment for the kids, plants to buy and of course Victoria Park (and its 300 million year-old fossil grove) had been specially spruced up. A Queen Victoria look-alike could be seen admiring the blooms. It is hoped that the Glasgow Show will become an annual event.
