The Scottish Snippets Newsletter in its original format began in April 1997 and continued in an unbroken series for 591 issues. Although no longer produced in that style, there is now this regular update on the new and updated pages on the Rampant Scotland site including "Scottie's Photo Diary From Scotland" and Tam's Tall Tales.

HotTo receive a text version of this newsletter as a reminder to look at these Web pages when they are published, just send an e-mail to Scottie@RampantScotland.com with "Subscribe Newsletter" in the subject line.

Photo Diary -September to November 2016

With illustrations from Geilston House (Painted Lady butterflies, dahlias - and a pumpkin), Hogganfield Loch, Glasgow (with Whooper Swans. Goosanders, Great Crested Grebe and Gadwalls), not forgetting Boeing 747 at 33,000 feet on its way to San Diego... Plus my own garden produced more butterflies, the Supermoon, a floribunda rose - and icicles! Photos from Edinburgh include remembrance poppies in Princes Street Gardens and the "Street of Light" in George Street (in daylight).See: Photo Diary -September to November 2016

Photo Diary - Glasgow Christmas 2016

Christmas lights and decorations in central Glasgow over the Festive season, focusing on George Square, Gallery of Modern Art and Ceiling of Light, Buchanan Street, Market Stalls and Clyde Bridges. See: Photo Diary - Glasgow Christmas 2016

Royal Bank of Scotland's First Polymer (Plastic) £5 Note

This banknote is part of a new series of 'Fabric of Nature' themed notes by the Royal Bank which are coming into circulation in 2016 and 2017. It is made from a polymer (plastic) material which is causing vegetarians and others to protest and refuse to use a Bank of England note made from the same material! Photo Diary Edinburgh Christmas 2016

I've taken a lot of graphics (over 100) of the Christmas scenes in central Edinburgh (including a new "Street of Light" - pictured here). But haven't yet had time to create a Photo Diary page for this - but that is scheduled for the newsletter for 28 January.

Next Newsletter

The next newsletter is scheduled for three weeks from now on 7 January 2017 and will be mainly Current News and Events in Scotland from David, the News and Views Editor.

Of course, if you have any Scottish memories which you would like to contribute to "Memory Lane" please send them in!

Yours aye

Scottie
