The BBC Sport Scotland site brings together the online services provided by BBC News Media in Scotland, including Sport news, Sportsound, Sportscene, Off The Ball, Your Call etc. The site provides commentaries on Scottish Premier League matches and regularly updated news on every football club in the country, in addition to comprehensive coverage of minority sports. Its those guys from Edinburgh University again with a full description of a wide range of sporting activities in Scotland. Sportscotland (formerly the Scottish Sports Council) is the national agency dedicated to promoting sporting opportunities for all Scots. The site gives an overview of its work and keeps you up-to-date with the latest issues, ideas, programmes, courses and events in Scottish sport. The organisation is reponsible for investing government grants into a range of sports programmes and makes awards totalling approximately £22m each year from the Lottery Fund to help create links between schools and communities, and to support areas and groups traditionally deprived of sporting opportunities. They also run national centres at Inverclyde and Cumbrae - the latter centre concentrates on watersports of all kinds. SportScotland and National Museums of Scotland have combined to set up a panel of sporting journalists and administrators who have made an initial selection of 100 Scottish sporting greats from the last 200 years. The public can vote on these at this site - or add to the list. On St Andrew's Day 2002, the top 50 men and women in Scottish sport will be inducted into a Hall of Fame. Highland Games

The Scottish Games Association (SGA) is the governing body of Traditional Highland Games in Scotland. It represents over 60 Highland Games in Scotland and has several associate members overseas in Canada and Australia etc. It assists individual Highland Games, sets rules for competition and records any new records created. Highland Games are held in Scotland from the end of May to the middle of September every year and the site has lists of Highland Games locations and dates and results of the various events across Scotland. Alba Games is an unofficial guide for anyone interested in the throwing events (Heavy Events) at Highland Games held in Scotland. There is information on future events and results from previous years and a growing library of pictures. Central Florida Highland Games have a number of interesting activities including handfasting, the Battle of Bannockburn re-enacted, and all the traditional events which we all love and enjoy. They also have a new-look "Royal Mile"!! Grandfather Mountain Highland Games are famous the world over. Highlandnet also gives a long List of North American Highland Game Events and results. Highlands of Durham is a 4 day Highland Games and Celtic Celebration in Port Perry and Uxbridge, Ontario, Canada. There is a Military Tattoo and Massed Band Ceremony and Ceilidh and the heavy games include the caber toss, stone and hammer throws and a tug-o-war competition. The burning of the Viking Ship is the grand finale to these games. Jacksonville Highland Games take place in Florida which must make it warm work tossing that caber! Events in the Kalamazoo Scottish Festival in Michigan include a Ceilidh, athletics, Scottish dancing and, of course, pipe bands. There are also demonstrations of spinning and weaving. Kincardine Scottish Festival and Highland Games is held at the end of July in Victoria Park, Kincardine, Ontario, Canada on the shores of Lake Huron. It starts with a golf tournament and there is a clan parade, piping and highland dancing. To promote the event, they have declared Fridays as "Tartan Fridays" and a Tartan Patrol checks business and people on their use of tartan. Mallaig & Morar Highland Games take place at Traigh Farm, Arisaig. Also included in this site is information on anything you would need to know about the local area if you wished to travel to see the beautiful scenic landscape associated with the villages of Mallaig and Morar, such as the Silver Sands of Morar, and the journey from Fort William to Mallaig, also known as The Road To The Isles. Ohio Scottish Games take place each year attracting Scots from far and wide. The break-away Scottish Premier League have a Web site has a history of the SPL, news, statistics on the league and links to the Premier League club Web sites. Scottish Fitba' is another very comprehensive site dedicated to Scottish football with fixtures, results, tables and covering not just the Scottish Premier League and Scottish First to Third Divisions but also the Highland League. British Premier Soccer covers all the UK, including Scottish Premier League. There is basic information about each team and a comprehensive set of links to other sites for all the SPL teams. Once completed, Scottish Football Records has the most recent completed season's results and historical tables of League Champions, SFA Cup winners and League Cup winners. The Scottish football supporters are well served by the Tartan Army covering a range of topics of interest to Scotland fans. Scottish Soccernet in association with the Daily Mail covers Scottish soccer news, results, tables and Premier Division match reports. Football Aid started four years ago in Scotland and so far has raised over £1.5million by hosting events at the UK's largest clubs. It gives supporters the chance to play where their heroes have played in an officiated 90-minute game of football on the hallowed turf of the club that the participants support. And "Football Aid" can even arrange it for fans to pull on the Scotland shirt and play against former Scottish football heroes at the national football stadium at Hampden. The world governing body for the ancient game, based at St Andrews. As you would expect, the definitive Rules of Golf are provided in a well presented fashion together with details of the Open Golf Championship. The Links Trust are responsible for the six golf courses at St Andrews, 'The Home of Golf'. They took over from the Town Council in 1974. The site has a comprehensive guide to to the courses and, most importantly, how to book a round of golf on the courses. Old Course Experience has an exclusive contract with the St Andrews Links Trust which guarantees prime tee-off times on the Old Course for groups large and small. Mountaineering, Hill Walking, Skiing, Caving

Formed in 1889, this is the largest Scottish mountaineering club. The club publishes a range of walking and climbing guides in Scotland including The Munros book, and the Munros CD-ROM and an annual Journal which has been published every year since 1890. Details are on the site. The SMC also provide five mountain huts available for booking to other climbers and walkers, including one on Ben Nevis. Plenty of information on mountaineering, climbing and hillwalking clubs, associations and mountain rescue, Outdoors schools, mountain guides, instructors, climbing walls, news and articles such as "Top ten mountains" (Buachaille Etive Mor, Ben Nevis, Aonach Eagach, Stac Pollaidh, Ben Lui, The Cobbler, Ben Macdui, Sgurr nan Gillean, South Cluanie Ridge, Schiehallion) and "Top ten pubs" plus routes and weather.
This is the representative body for climbers, walkers, mountaineers and cross-country skiers who enjoy the Scottish mountains. The site has current news and features and also pages on Affiliated Clubs, an events diary, accommodation and book reviews. Links to climbing reports, weather reports, ski conditions and webcams for a number of locations across Scotland plus an extremely large Image Archive of Scottish mountains. A list of all the Munros (Scottish mountain peaks over 3000 feet) with links to sites where you can see photos of them. Some are not yet recorded - but most are! A description of one climber's completion of her last 10 Munros (hills/mountains over 3,000 feet) and last 10 Corbetts (2,500 feet to 3,000 feet). A massive collection of over 1,000 high resolution photographs, 360 degree views and QuickTime movie panoramas of mountains, islands, sea water lochs, fresh water lochs and rivers of Scotland. And in addition to all those views from the tops of mountains, there is an extensive set of photos on rivers and whitewater kayaks; coastline and sea kayaks; windsurfing; and aerial photos. The site is the product of three years' photography of the Scottish landscape, particularly the rugged mountain areas. This is Scotland's National Outdoor Adventure Training Centre, located in the heart of Cairngorms National Park. You can learn, develop or qualify in an adventure sport of your choice. The goal of the centre is to inspire adventure by teaching beginners, coaching intermediate/advanced and delivering training and assessment courses for leaders and instructors. It provides information on many walks in these areas of Scotland plus accommodation, walking holidays, events. Cycling in South-East Scotland provide detailed cycling tours and maps for a range of locations in the Borders.
Thanks to the efforts of local enthusiasts (with a lot of help from the Scottish Forestry Commission), a stage of the Mountain Bike World Cup has been held for a number of years at a course near Fort William. It has won a number of awards, including the UCI Award for the best Downhill and 4-Cross World Cups in both 2002 and 2003. The Nevis Range Downhill is one of the longest and arguably the most demanding course on the World Cup circuit. The site has all the details of the event, maps of the courses, video clips from previous events and a wallpaper graphic.
This Web site provides details of Scottish orienteering fixtures, results and the Scottish Orienteering League table plus a list of Scottish Clubs & Associations. Edinburgh Hash House Harriers is part of a world-wide collection of clubs which are a mixture of athleticism and sociability combining running, orienteering, and partying, where bands of harriers (and harriettes) chase hares on eight-to-ten kilometer-long trails - and then retire to a local hostelry for some "refreshment". The site illustrates the "fun" element very well! Interløpers is a small orienteering club based in Edinburgh which is predominantly a club of younger orienteers, or orienteers who can at least remember being young and still go training. |

Although the title of this Web site is 'Curling Scotland' it relates to the Dewar's Ice Rink at Perth and covers not only curling there but also Ice Skating. Jarvis Masters at Perth is held at the Dewar's Centre in Perth. The Jarvis Masters Bonspiel event is always the first of the major Curling Competitions of the calendar year in Scotland. The site has the latest news, teams, the draw and results plus a chat room and links. Based in Edinburgh, the club dates back to 1838 and has affiliated clubs around the world. The site contains a History of Curling including a charming Curler's Grace. The News section covers local and international items and an extensive archive. There is also a competition calendar and results and list of champions (Scottish, European, Olympic and World). East Kilbride and Haremyres Curling Club was formed in 1830 and the site covers its history as well as current events, competitions and results. Duns Curling Club is based in the Scottish Borders and curling is organised at Kelso. Sailing, Surfing and Scuba Diving

RYA Scotland has over 120 affiliated sailing clubs in Scotland, and over 90 establishments recognised by RYA Scotland providing sailing tuition to a nationally recognised standard. Alba Sailing provide bareboat self-sail yacht charter, based at Dunstaffnage Marina, by Oban, Argyll. They offer a wide choice of sailing yachts from 9 to 13 metres (6 to 10 berths) for bareboat charter to experienced sailors. Despite the "Fair City of Perth" being so far up the River Tay, there is an active Perth Sailing Club and there Web site gives information on the Club facilities, racing programme plus other sailing links. Scottish Sailing Institute was formed as a result of lottery funding awarded to Largs Sailing Club to develop their clubhouse and the Largs area, in conjunction with the RYA to establish a recognised centre of sailing excellence. There are ashore and afloat facilities for hosting international events and the Institute has the resources available to provide all of the administrative backup for the management of an event, including marketing to sponsors, arranging accommodation and coordinating the après-sail activities. St. Andrews Sailing Club is based on the East Sands in St. Andrews and has achieved RYA recognition for Keelboat, Dinghy and Power-Boat instruction and run regular training course in these areas, together with full first-aid tuition. The club has a good stock of toppers, lasers and asymmetrics and coaching on these has produced two Scottish youth champions in the last few years. Members sail a wide selection of other boats including fast Hobie, Dart and Tornado catamarans. OffshoreScotland Sea School, based at Largs Yacht Haven, Ayrshire, offers Royal Yachting Association recognised facilities. Personal tuition is provided by qualified staff in practical and theoretical courses for the complete novice or for specific RYA sailing qualifications. Yacht charter cruises are also available to Scottish and Irish waters. The West Highland Yachting Week has been running for over 20 years and has a mixture of round the buoys and passage racing in both open and restricted sail classes around the Argyle coast near Crinan, Oban and Tobermory. Boleskine Camanachd not only covers the history of the club and its players and current results but also includes the rules of shinty The web site for Newtonmore Camanachd Club (described as "shinty's finest") describes the game as well as providing a history of the club and fixtures and results. There are also action pictures from the games. Glenurquhart Shinty Club was founded in 1885 and their site provides an illustrated history of the club. Northern California Camanachd Club has members mainly in the San Francisco Bay Area, with teams forming in the South Bay and the East Bay. This is the Web site of a non-profit making club set up for the sole purpose of supporting the development of young, Scottish Speedway Racers. It provides rider sand club profiles and a photo gallery. This is Scotland's independent American vehicle and lifestyle club based in the Edinburgh/Lothian area. If you have an American built car, motorcycle, truck or powerboat you can become a member. The site says that "Every member is treated with the same disrespect no matter if his (or her) vehicle is a £30,000 classic or a rusted hulk awaiting restoration". There are illustrations of some chromium American cars and details of a monthly "cruise" and links to members' own Web sites. |

Scotland has 5 racecourses at Ayr, Hamilton Park, Kelso, Musselburgh and Perth. With over 80 days racing in Scotland throughout the year both National Hunt (over fences) and on the Flat, there are lots of reasons to visit one or all of Scotland’s horse racecourses. Ayr Racecourse has its own site with details of the racecourse, dates, facilities, corporate hospitality, graphics.
These trials, held at the seat of the Dukes of Atholl, first ran as a Three Day Event in 1989 and since then it has grown in popularity. In 1996 Bowmore Blair Castle International Horse Trials hosted the European Junior Championships and in 2003 it hosted the CCI three-star competition, the first event of its kind to be held in Scotland. The site gives details of the event and the results plus information on the tented village and Country Fair. Located in the grounds of Scone Palace, the club is the home of many of the Scottish International Polo team. The Web site has a history of the club and of polo, a list of fixtures, a photo gallery and a useful section of information and rules of the game. CJ's Premier Pool is a private club in West Fife situated in the former 'Palace Cinema' in Rosyth, by Dunfermline. Plays at Cartha Park Rugby Club and the site has information on what is happening on the softball scene in Glasgow plus links to other softball sites. Softball is very similar to baseball. The only real difference is the ball is larger, and the pitch is thrown underarm in fastpitch softball, not overarm. Edinburgh Sofball League site has a comprehensive guide to Softball in Edinburgh.
