Ach na skia Croft provides self catering chalets and a cottage on the rugged and beautiful west coast of the Scottish Highlands at Arisaig. All the properties face towards the sea and have panoramic views towards the islands of Eigg, Rum and the Isle of Skye. Onsite facilities include games and childrens play area, indoor games room, sauna and steam room. The Web site has an extensive section on things to see and do in the area.

Fort Augustus Abbey luxury apartment sleeps 4 in the former abbey building. Situated 30 miles from Inverness, the Highland capital, Fort Augustus Abbey is 12 miles from Foyers, at the southern end of Loch Ness.

Altassmore Holiday Cottages in Sutherland have a garden, courtyard, parking and barbecue area and each has a small patio and garden furniture. One cottage is adapted for wheelchair access. There are good facilities for golf with a number of courses within easy reach. The area is rich in wildlife and trout fishing can be arranged, subject to availability.

Altdarroch Farm Cottages Kinlocheil, By Fort William are self-catering cottages set above beautiful Loch Eil on Scotland's famous "Road to the Isles", which runs between Fort William and Mallaig. The three cottages are located within easy reach of the town of Fort William and, in the other direction, Glenfinnan.

Aonach Mor provides self-catering holiday homes for vacation rental on the shores of Loch Ness within Fort Augustus Abbey. The 2 bedroom apartment (sleeping up to 4 people) has wonderful views across the grounds and to the glorious mountains beyond. The village is just a short stroll from the apartment and has plenty of restaurants, bars and shops available and the Caledonian Canal runs through the village.

Ardanair is a modern self catering bungalow on the shores of Loch Kanaird, 3 miles from Ullapool. The house has direct access down steps to the pebbled beach and enjoys dramatic views across the bay towards the Isle of Martin and the Summer Isles - and the Web site has a great photo gallery illustrating the surrounding area.

Ardanaiseig Hotel ten miles from Taynuilt on the shores of Loch Awe in the North West Highlands of Scotland, is more of a private home, open to guests who will appreciate sharing the wonderful hospitality, and lingering magical Celtic atmosphere. Ardgarry Farm, Faichem, Invergarry, Inverness-shire is a small working farm situated in the West Highlands. It offers four styles of accommodation consisting of bed & breakfast, four self-catering log cabins, a self-catering cottage, and camping and caravanning on Faichem Park campsite.

Arisaig House Cottages offers a range of luxury self-catering accommodation set in the mature grounds of "Arisaig House", Arisaig, Inverness-shire.

Assynt House bed and breakfast is in a central but quiet location in a conservation area of Ullapool village in Ross-shire, North West Scotland. They are conveniently placed for the harbour, ferry, pubs and restaurants. The site has some nice pictures of the area.

Balcarres in Fort William is set in an elevated position in a quiet cul-de-sac. It commands spectacular views over Loch Linnhe and the Morven hills. The owners were born and bred in Fort William and have that essential local knowledge to be able to answer any questions you may have about the area.

Ballachulish Hotel was built in 1640 and is an historic country estate within view of Ben Nevis, close to the Great Glen, and within a stone's throw of Lochs Linnie and Leven. This restored country house offers en suite rooms with Scottish cuisine in a relaxing atmosphere. The house is noted as the site formally occupied by Captain Campbell who was ordered to carry out the massacre in Glencoe. Ballachulish is also famous for the Appin murder, immortalized by Robert Louis Stevenson's "Kidnapped" - Ballachulish House was once home to the Stuarts of Appin.

Belladrum Estate has self-catering cottages and lodgings in a romantic setting on an 1100 acre family estate near to the Highland capital of Inverness and Loch Ness. As a special attraction for a romantic retreat for honeymoon couples you can get even get married there in the family chapel, Belladrum Temple (candle-lit only - how's that for romance!).

Ben Loyal Hotel in Tongue, Sutherland, is an AA and RAC 2 star hotel and has been awarded 3 stars by the Scottish Tourist Board. The restuarant also has awards from the AA and RAC and is 'Ashley Courtney Highly Commended'. There are 11 en-suite bedrooms and the hotel is a good base for fishing, stalking, climbing, birdwatching, hill walking and just pottering around the area.

As its name implies, Ben Nevis View bed and breakfast has plenty of views of Britain's highest mountain, as it is located at Corpach, on the outskirts of Fort William. It is also adjacent to the Caledonian Canal and during the season a steam train passes nearby, twice a day, as an added novelty.

Blackwood Croft in Strathcarron in beautiful Wester Ross, has self catering holiday accommodation on a working croft with a 2-bedroom purpose-built upper floor apartment in modern croft house, sleeping up to 4 people. It is located in a quiet rural position amidst Highland mountain scenery and hill walking terrain with superb views but within a mile of the nearest shop, post office, and pub.

Boath House Hotel in Nairn, near Inverness has a covetted Michelin Star and 4AA rosettes, which puts it firmly in the top four restaurants in Scotland and one of the most notable in Britain. Brora Links View Apartment provides luxurious holiday rental accommodation Sutherland in the beautiful and remote Northern Highlands of Scotland. All main rooms have wonderful views across the garden to the famous James Braid designed golf course with magnificent coastal and highland views. Camusaluinn Self Catering Holidays are based at Annat, Torridon, on the north-west coast in a traditional stone cottage which has been completely renovated into an attractive 2-bedroomed self catering property with accommodation for up to 4. Annat is situated on the shores of Upper Loch Torridon, some 60 miles due west of Inverness.

Castle Stuart is a 17th century Tower House with spiral stairs in Petty Parish, Inverness which offers luxury accommodation.

Chestnut Villa is close to the centre of the village of Muir of Ord in Ross-Shire and provides bed & breakfast accommodation in three bedrooms plus a residents' lounge. Muir of Ord is 6 miles from the town of Dingwall, and 11 miles from the City of Inverness, the capital of the Highlands. Coille Bheag (pronounce it "curl yer vake") is a traditional working croft set in wood and meadowland, situated in Inverasdale, near Poolewe, overlooking Loch Ewe and the world-famous Inverewe Gardens. Renovated and tastefully furnished, the traditional croft cottage it is available as self-catering family holiday accommodation (sleeps 6, pets welcome). There is also a modern luxury timber cabin available - ideal for honeymoons or small families, sleeps up to 4, no pets. Organic produce available in season!

Corriegour Lodge is a small hotel overlooking Loch Lochy, between Spean Bridge and Loch Ness. It is set amid a contrasting nine acres of mature woodland and garden and has a small lochside beach area complete with jetty. 4 stars from the Scottish Tourist Board and a Member of the Taste of Scotland Scheme, the Lodge also features in the Good Hotel Guide.

Cragganmore House on Speyside at Ballindalloch, Banffshire provides bed & breakfast and is set in a secluded glen with glorious views down to the River Spey and across to Ben Rinnes. The fine Victorian house was built by the founder of the Cragganmore Distillery, John Smith, in 1867 and is situated just yards from the Speyside Way. You can also arrange to join award-winning chef, Tony Allcott, in the kitchen, to see how you too can create gourmet meals for friends and family. Demonstrations are limited to small groups only, ensuring that you get the maximum benefit from your day or weekend course.

Culdearn House is a small Scottish hotel situated deep in the valley of the River Spey in the picturesque village of Grantown-on-Spey. It was built over 100 years ago using locally quarried granite stone and still has original wood panelling, fine moulded ceilings and marble fireplaces. The proprietors combine an extensive whisky collection with award winning cooking and Culdearn has an AA Red Rosette Award for excellent cuisine and a "Taste of Scotland" award.

Craigellachie Hotel in Banffshire the very heart of Speyside is an award-winning four star hotel, two rosette restaurant and world renowned Quaich Bar with over 530 different Scotch Single Malt Whiskies. It has won a host of awards including "Hotel of the Year" in the "Whisky Magazine" Icons of Whisky 2004 and "Best Whisky bar in the World" in the Scotch Whisky industry survey for Scottish Field.

Craigerne House Hotel in Newtonmore, near Aviemore, Cairngorm National Park, is a privately owned Country House Hotel with delightful mature gardens commanding magnificent views of the Monadhliath and Cairngorm mountains and the Spey Valley. Although close to the centre of Newtonmore and its amenities, the Craigerne House Hotel is located on the edge of the village next to the golf course and is well known for its tranquil ambience, good food and quiet, friendly atmosphere.

Dornoch Caravan and Camp Park is located next to Dornoch’s award-winning golden beaches and it’s magnificent golf course. There are 130 pitches and 80 static caravans on a 25 acre park and is open from March right until October.

The 15th century Dornoch Castle Hotel stands opposite the inspiring 12th century Dornoch Cathedral. Set in private gardens, the hotel has 18 en suite garden rooms. Sometimes referred to as Dornoch Palace, the building was originally created by the Bishop of Caithness and passed to the Gordon Earls of Sutherland after the Reformation.

Dornoch Firth Caravan Park is situated on the A9, midway between the Highland's oldest Royal Burgh of Tain and the town of Dornoch, now made famous by Madonna. This well-run family park enjoys open views of the Dornoch Firth with picturesque coastal and rural scenery. The park features Caravan holiday homes, touring and tent pitches with bar and restaurant adjacent.

Doune Bay Lodge is on the western shores of Knoydart and they offer accommodation and a restaurant as well as walking, diving and sailing holidays. Their special feature is that you can only get there by boat (or a two-day walk!). They can collect guests from Mallaig in one of their own boats.

Druimorrin Caravans are located near Muir of Ord, 20 miles north-west of Inverness in a peaceful and tranquil rural location looking out onto craggy hills and near the Orrin River. There are two static caravans available throughout the year. Drumchork Lodge Hotel is situated in Aultbea, Wester Ross, in one of the most idyllic areas of the Western Highlands. Edinbane Holiday Cottages are ideally located on the beautifully Isle of Skye off the West coast of the Scottish Highlands. The Three Star self catering cottages are on a croft in the village of Edinbane on the shores of Loch Greshornish in the North of the Island - 15 minutes drive from Portree and 10 minutes drive form Dunvegan.

Garth Hotel in the heart of Grantown-on-Spey, near Aviemore, stands at the north end of the village square. It was built in the 1850’s and began its life as an Inn. Over the years the hotel has prospered, becoming the Premier Independent Hotel in Grantown-on-Spey. It has recently been refurbished to blend its elegant Victorian design with all modern comforts.

The Glengarry Castle Hotel has been privately owned by the MacCallum family for over 40 years. Set in 60 acres of wooded grounds on the shore of Loch Oich and built near the old ruin of Invergarry Castle, the hotel is only 7 miles from Loch Ness.

Glengorm Castle is on the Isle of Mull and has self catering flats and cottages and four-star bed and breakfast. The site has some nice illustrations and a 'Glengorm Gallery' which has photos, links and extra information with walks and maps.

Glen Mhor Hotel is in a tranquil location on the River Ness, in the heart of Inverness. A couple of minutes walk from the City Centre, the railway station and Eden Court Theatre, The Glen Mhor is a popular destination for short and weekend breaks. There are also two established restaurants offering a Scottish culinary experience with local game, Aberdeen Angus beef, fish, and shellfish.

Glenmoriston Arms Hotel, Loch Ness is located in the riverside village of Invermoriston, at the foot of Glen Moriston and just five miles north of Fort Augustus in the heart of the Highlands. The proprietors can arrange fully inclusive vacations including Highland Honeymoon, Anniversary Celebrations, Highland Golf tours, Salmon fishing, Field Sports, Photo Stalking and other Activity holidays. The Moriston Bar has a selection of around 100 single malt whiskies.

Grant Arms Hotel is a 56 en-suite bedroom family run coaching hotel in Grantown-on-Spey. Queen Victoria and Prince Albert stayed there in 1860 but has been modernised to provided comfortable accommodation while keeping the traditional character. They serve four course dinner and full Scottish breakfast in a 110-seat restaurant and they make sure that your food is served at its best. Heatherlie is a unique 'B' listed former Victorian photographers studio and village Bank in the centre of Strathpeffer. Now a family home, much of the original interior has been preserved or restored. Bed and breakfast is offered with two double rooms available on the upper floor, one of which forms a family suite. Breakfast is served in the former bank - a stunning vaulted ceiling room.

Highland Lodges self catering accommodation in a remote part of the Scottish Highlands near Invergarry, Spean Bridge, Inverness-shire,has easy access to Fort Augustus and Fort William. Two bedroom self catering lodges are set within a 3-acre private and non commercialised site on the shores of Loch Lochy. The lodges have just undergone a refurbishment programme and are open all year.

Highland Rest self-catering apartment is 3 miles from the centre of Inverness and 4 miles from Loch Ness. It is set in a private garden with a small burn running through it and adjoins Struanbridge cottage.

Invergarry Hotel is a distinctive Victorian building, originally a coaching inn. The hotel is located in the small village of Invergarry in the Scottish Highlands which was the clan seat of the MacDonells of Glengarry and overlooks the River Garry, well known for salmon fishing.

Lochcarron - Holiday Cottages in Wester Ross, Scottish Highlands are located either within Lochcarron village itself or within a very short travelling distance of the village. The accommodation available range from a modern detached chalet bungalow to a traditional detached cottage.

Loch Leven Chalets are located at Onich, four miles from the village of North Ballachulish which is 12 miles from Fort William. The small complex of seven self catering chalets are located on a loch side, overlooking the famous Pap of Glencoe. They are fully equipped to cater for up to four adults, and are quality graded with three stars by VisitScotland. There is free sea fishing on Loch Leven.

Loch Torridon Country House Hotel on the West Coast of Scotland is a traditional Victorian shooting lodge set in 58 Acres of parkland at the foot of Ben Damph, complete with its own resident Highland Cattle and Free Range Hens. The hotel was used by Ted Danson and Joely Richardson and the rest of the actors and crew when making the film "Loch Ness".

Lower Pitcalnie is a small bed and breakfast establishment, on the shores of the Cromarty Firth and Nigg Bay, north of Inverness. There are 3 twin en-suite bedrooms, each with its own entrance from the courtyard formed by the house and annexe. There are plans for a golf practice facility in the 8 acres of garden, and fishing in the third acre pond.

Lundie View Lodge offers B&B (seven rooms with a range of facilities) and a self catering apartment (large bedroom sleeps 4 in a double & 2 single beds) in a converted and extended 150 year old centrally heated croft. The location is four miles south of Fort Augustus near to the Caledonian Canal and the Great Glen Walk with great views over the Great Glen. Breakfast and all day snacks are also available in The Thistle Stop Tearoom.

Mackays Hotel and Restaurant in Durness, in North West Sutherland, is a 150-year-old building which has been carefully renovated by the owners to provide their guests with that little bit extra in Highland elegance. There are six en-suite bedrooms, all individually decorated and furnished. The area is known as the homeland of the Clan Mackay and the hotel is supporting a local initiative called "The Mackay Country Project".

Mansfield House Hotel in Tain was originally built in the 1870's and substantially extended in 1902 by the then Provost of Tain. It retains many of its fine original features including pine panelling and ornate plaster ceilings. Many of the bedrooms in the Victorian part of the house have jacuzzi baths.

Morar Hotel near Mallaig is a family run 40-bedroomed hotel on the fabled "Road to the Isles" with views of the famous Silver Sands of Morar and the islands of Rum and Eigg. The hotel will soon celebrate its centenary and the 'Silver Sands Restaurant' with its panoramic view, offers salmon, trout and venison and fresh fish and seafood from Mallaig.

The Old Manse is a recently refurbished granite vicarage on the outskirts of Lochcarron village, Wester Ross, with superb views overlooking Loch Carron. There are five bedrooms available to let, all with en suite facilities and the house has full central heating.

The Osprey Hotel, Kingussie is situated in Cairngorm National Park in the Scottish Highlands close to the popular winter and summer resort of Aviemore. Olde Worlde décor, best Scottish fare, malt whiskies, local beers to make this a memorable visit that you will wish to repeat. The eleven rooms are ensuite with TV, broadband access and coffee making facilities.

Pitzcalzean House a listed country home standing in its own grounds of 33 acres, overlooking the Cromarty Firth 6 miles from the village of Nigg Station and some 6½ miles off the A9. Offering bed and breakfast accommodation, it is readily accessible to both Tain and Inverness. It was originally built in 1790 and extended throughout the 19th Century. The novelist Eric Linklater purchased the house in 1947 and wrote many of his books here.

Pool House Hotel, Poolewe, Wester Ross stands on the shores of Loch Ewe, looking across the bay onto the world-famous sub-tropical Inverewe Gardens. Pool House was the once home of Osgood Mackenzie, founder of these gardens, who built the house with the view in mind. The hotel is a 4-star Scottish Tourist Board recommended establishment.

Prince's House Hotel, Glenfinnan near Fort William, has links with Bonnie Prince Charlie and the Jacobites. Glenfinnan is the home of the famous Glenfinnan monument and spectacular Glenfinnan railway viaduct. The hotel has won awards for its cuisine.

Ravenscourt House Hotel in Grantown-on-Spey is in a 19th century stone building the interior of which has been carefully refurbished to preserve and enhance the original qualities of the original house. It has a residents' licence and RAC and AA Five Diamonds.

Rockvilla Hotel in Lochcarron, Ross-Shire, Scottish Highlands, is situated in the centre of the village with stunning views of loch and mountains. This small family run business offers personal service in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The hotel is fully licensed and open to non-residents. The restaurant is "Taste of Scotland" recommended and serves a comprehensive variety of local fare prepared from local venison, game, and lamb, and specialises in fresh local sea food.

Ross Holiday Homes offer two Scandinavian-style cabins built in a woodland setting, on the edge of the picturesque Victorian Spa village of Strathpeffer, Ross and Cromarty. Each self-catering holiday lodge sleep 4 people, with one double-bedroom and one twin-bedded room. The Spean Bridge Hotel, an original Coaching Inn dating back to 1780, is located in the heart of Spean Bridge Village, just 10 miles north of Fort William and Ben Nevis, and only 5 miles away from Scotland's newest ski resort, Nevis Range. The hotel has a unique attraction - its very own Commando Museum, sensitively built up over the years and now providing a highly informative and interesting exhibition about this unique fighting force which trained at nearby Achnacarry during WW2. The Hotel's "Commando Bar" was one of their favourite watering holes and is still part of Commando lore.

Sporting Estates at Thrumster (in the County of Caithness, the sea-girt 'land beyond the Highlands') provides visitors with fishing, falconry, shooting, stalking, bird watching and archaeology.

Station Lodge Tulloch, Roy Bridge, Inverness-shire is a hostel is in an ideal location to pursue the many outdoor activities for which the Scottish Highlands are famous. They provide bunkhouse-style hostel accommodation for twenty four people, as individuals or groups in four rooms. The converted railway station building sitting on the famous West Highland Line dates from 1894 and has interesting architectural features, including the Swiss-style roof and interior wooden wall linings.
